Into the Vinyl Archives – Music Director, Sam, shares his vinyl of the month.

“This was one of the first albums I remember seeing in our collection. “Acetone” has had a constant spot in my top 5 for the past 6 or so years. Not sure if they were going for it but I would say they made some perfect music. This album is no exception. Side A goes into a much more punk, fuzzed out sound than a lot of the Acetone discography. Side B’s track “Louise” is my favorite on the album. 8 minutes of wiggly guitar and mellow ride hits. I love this album a bunch.”

TONIGHT from 8pm-9pm on KXLU’s Behind the Scenes, DJ Alex interviews film director, Steve Kochones about his upcoming documentary, “Chinatown Punk Wars.” The film offers a look at how two Chinese restaurants became the unlikely epicenter of L.A.’s burgeoning punk rock scene in the late 1970s.

“Chinatown Punk Wars” airs October 4th at 9pm on KCET and October 6th at 8pm on PBS SoCal. Tune into KXLU tonight to learn more about the film!
