DJ PROFILE

I was very honored when I was invited to join the “Alma del Barrio” team in 2024. I have been an avid fan of the show for many years. Listeners may know me from KPFK’s “Canto Tropical” that I have been a part of since 1987 (and where I am known as “La Rumbera”).

I am dedicated to bringing my deep love and my extensive knowledge of the music to each show that I carefully curate. I believe that as much as listeners want to hear good music, they also want to learn about the music and the artists who bring it to us.

I previously hosted two other salsa programs in Southern California and as well as “Fusion Latina” and “88 Jazz Place” (straight-ahead jazz) in Miami on WDNA. In addition to my radio work, I am a freelance writer and editor.

I generally host “Alma Del Barrio” the last Sunday of every month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. But, who knows, I may pop up at other times as well!
