Hola Familia! I’ve been on the air with Alma del Barrio for more than 15 years and a listener before then! I earned my M.Ed from Loyola Marymount University in 1998 and can’t seem to stay away from this beautiful campus and KXLU. It’s a blessing to be able to play my favorite music for all of you as a volunteer DJ for so many years. As a Salsa/Casino dancer, I have always tried to create shows that will make you move. From Son to Chachacha, Timba to Pilon, LAOn1, Rumba, & Danzon, I love it all. From Son 14 to La Sonora Ponceña, Los Van Van to Impacto Crea, Son Mayor to Charangoa, YES, please!
My experience with Alma del Barrio helps me in my work as a teacher with homeless youth here in Los Angeles. How? The cool factor of course. I’m also a mama, a daughter, love good food and music that fills the soul.
Tune to my segment of Alma del Barrio every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month 2-6pm.
